Saturday 15: Visit to Tlahuica people who are able to distinguish and consume more than 150 species of edible mushrooms in central Mexico. Lagunas de Zempoala National Park and Xindandú Park. Welcoming ceremony by tlahuica people. Mushroom exhibition of local  species. Tlahuica music.

Sunday 16: Visit to Nanacamilpa town, a village with a mushroom name from the Aztec language nanacatl= mushroom. Visit to the nahuatl community “Piedra canteada”. Mycological walk in local pine and oak forests. Prehispanic music. Exhibition of local mushrooms. Nocturnal visit to the sanctuary of fireflies inside pine forests.

Monday 17: Prehispanic frescos in Cacaxtla, Tlaxcala, more than 1,000 year-old. Tasting of traditional mycogastronomy of Tlaxcala. Exhibition of local mushrooms. Local dancers and prehispanic music.

Tuesday 18: Gathering of endemic wild edible mushrooms in a cloudy moist mountainous subtropical forest, in eastern Mexico, Xalapa, Veracruz. Visit to a plant of wild mushrooms farm. Tasting of traditional  mycogastronomy and local music.

Wednesday 19: Visit to the Tule tree, which is more than 2,000 year-old. Visit to traditional looms, production of textiles, and the local local liquor mezcal. Sleeping in the ecotouristic centre of  Cuajimoloyas, state of Oaxaca, Southern Mexico.

Thursday 20:  Visit to the temperate forests of the ecotouristic center Cuajimoloyas. Interaction with the local gatherers who commercialize wild edible mushrooms. Local music and traditional gastronomy.  

Friday 21: Visit to the Zapotec-Mixtec archaeological pre-Columbian site of Monte Albán. Colonial city of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. Traditional dancing of different ethnic local groups. Philatelic museum which includes a collection of mushroom stamps from around the world. Colonial Architecture and Botanical Garden. Textile and handicraft traditional market. 

Saturday 22: Return trip to Mexico city.

Final Field Trip Cost and Payment

The final cost of the Post-Meeting field trip is USD 1,150 per person occupying a single room and USD 950 per person occupying a double or triple room.

This price includes: i) all the activities planned according to the schedule; ii) accommodations for seven nights, from Saturday, July 15 to Friday, July 21; iii) all meals from lunch on Saturday, July 15 to the breakfast of Saturday 22; iv) all the transportation costs according to schedule concluding in Mexico city the afternoon/evening of Saturday, July 22; and v) all entrance fees and English-speaking guides to archaeological sites listed in the schedule. We expect to conclude the Post-meeting field trip around 7 pm in Mexico City.

If you plan to join us on this trip, we would greatly appreciate if you could inform us as soon as possible, in order that we can plan all of the activities; arrange proper accommodation and the best possible transportation well in advance. We also ask that you make your payment for the field trip by Paypal or bank transfer (as with the registration fees), by May 20, 2017 at latest. As the field trip has been highly requested, to secure your place we advise you to pay the trip as soon as possible, due to the fact that we will follow the first-come first-serve basis.

Post-Meeting Field Trip: July 15 to 22, 2017

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16: Visit to Tlahuica people who are able to distinguish and consume more than 150 species of edible mushrooms in central Mexico.

Monday 17: Visit to Nanacamilpa town, a village with a mushroom name from the Aztec language nanacatl= mushroom. Prehispanic frescos in Cacaxtla, Tlaxcala.

Tuesday 18: Gathering of  endemic wild edible mushrooms in a cloudy moist mountainous subtropical forest, in eastern Mexico, Xalapa, Veracruz.

Wednesday 19: Colonial city of Oaxaca in southern Mexico.  Visit to archaeological pre-Columbian site of Monte Alban.

Thursday 20 and Friday 21: Visit to Ixtlán, a small typical village and visit to subtropical and temperate forests with local mycophilic communities of Oaxaca.  Sleeping in the ecotouristic centre of  Cuajimoloyas, state of Oaxaca, Southern Mexico.

Saturday 22: Return trip to Mexico city.
